Short-term Emergency Lighting

A practical solution for lighting during short-term power outages. A normal LED light bulb which also contains a battery for emergency use when the power is out. (see https://www.gelighting.com/led-bulbs/e26/ge-led-soft-white-a21-0 )

The battery is charged from regular power as you use the light normally, but will provide light for about 5 hours when the power is out.  With the power out, the bulb is automatically powered by the battery when turned on; however, you can also remove the bulb from the fixture and use it as a flashlight/lantern. There is a switch on the side of the bulb to turn the light on manually when it is removed from the fixture.

Replace the bulb in each room where you would normally spend time and when the power goes out you are not left in the dark trying to find a flashlight or other light source.   Not having to worry about how to light a room at night during a power outage struck me as a really practical and convenient way to be prepared for short-term power outages.  Of course we will keep a flashlight and batteries as well.
