Seven Pillars of Wisdom

What are they?

  1. The fear of the Lord
    • The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 CSB
    • To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech. Proverbs 8:13 CSB
  2. Knowledge of the Holy One (Jesus)
    • “…the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 CSB
  3. Shrewdness
    • Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced; Proverbs 8:5 CSB
  4. Common Sense
    • Develop common sense, you who are foolish. Proverbs 8:5 CSB
  5. Gracious speech
    • Listen, for I speak of noble things, and what my lips say is right. Proverbs 8:6 CSB
    • All the words from my mouth are righteous; none of them are deceptive or perverse. Proverbs 8:8 CSB
    • Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person. Colossians 4:6 CSB
  6. Righteousness
    • I walk in the ways of righteousness, along the paths of justice, Proverbs 8:20 CSB
  7. Justice
    • I walk in the ways of righteousness, along the paths of justice, Proverbs 8:20 CSB
